About Us

In their generosity, Pimpollo founders Padre Pancho and Madre Estella opened their doors to many needy children. Unfortunately, the need was so great that their time and money became spread much too thin. Income generated by a construction business and small agricultural projects was not enough to support needed staff, important building maintenance and repair, and sometimes enough food. In fact, because of lack of maintenance and supervision, the entire septic system was not functioning, creating an environment ideal for epidemic.

In 1995, a Salem, Oregon man-John Kerr-first visited the orphanage. He was immediately struck by the disrepair; he was even more struck by the amazing spirits of the children. He knew he'd be back-and with friends. Friends of Pimpollo was born. (Want the full story? Click here for a "History of Pimpollo".)

Meet "Friends of Pimpollo"

Founded in 2002, "Friends of Pimpollo" (FOP) is a legally constituted 501c3 charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Pimpollo Orphanage. The FOP Board of Directors consists of people who have contributed their money, talent, and time to make a better life for these children.
