Welcome to Friends of Pimpollo

Friends of Pimpollo (pronounced pim-poy-o and also known as FOP) develops and supports education based projects in southern Mexico, specifically in the states of Oaxaca and Chiapas.
Friends of Pimpollo operates as a volunteer organization, with an Intern and Executive Director based in Salem, Oregon.
Generous donors make the work we do possible!
The continuity of our educational programs relies on donors like you. Your assistance ensure that we are able to continue supporting these students and their educational needs.
Monthly program sponsorships support the educational, nutritional, and daily needs of those involved in our programs. These monthly gifts provide a steady source of funding for our educational projects, allowing us to focus on the future of these programs.
Thank you for the kindness you have shown toward young people…

Our Programs

Education Scholarship Program

Vicente Guerrero Community

Our organization provides support for students who for financial reasons would otherwise not be able to achieve their educational aspirations. We provide financial assistance for tuition, room and board, computers, housing, counseling and leadership support.

Oaxaca Kids Can

Oaxaca Kids Can is a nutritious breakfast and computer education program that serves over 700 children at multiple schools in Southern Mexico.
In 2018, Friends of Pimpollo was proud to begin its 10th year of support of educational initiatives in Vicente Guerrero, a largely indigenous transitional community that encircles the Oaxaca municipal landfill. The program proudly supports 740 students in 14 preschool, primary and secondary schools in the area.

ECOSER

ECOSER is giving young adults in Southern Mexico the opportunity to permanently end the cycle of poverty in their lives through obtaining a college education.
